Parents have a lot going on and keeping up with your young person's spiritual growth isn't always easy. Here is where you can find all the information you need in one place.

Every year there are big trips and events.  We do a lot of different events, so here are all the big ones so you can see what our year tends to look like.  The purpose of each trip or event is mentioned in the description, and any forms that are needed for the particular trip are listed.  All trips require that we have a yearly Medical Form on file. Check with Dan if you need to fill one out or update.

Confirmation is a firming up of the faith for anyone 6th grade and older who has not yet been confirmed.  We start this journey in January and it runs through the springtime. This is an exciting journey for the whole family and helps the young person explore the basics of the Christian faith, gain skills for greater devotion and understanding of it, goes over United Methodist history and principles, and ultimately seeks to give them a foudation for a lifelong journey of walking with Jesus.  (Middle and High School)

The Lock In is all about having as much fun as possible and is a great event to invite friends to.  We tend to go to one or two offsite locations (ex. Laser Tag in Pooler, Bowling in Bluffton, Donuts at Krispy Kreme) and then return for a night full of messy games, videos, and gym tournaments.  An event that is hard to forget and most youth are talking about it all year long.  8 pm - 8 am! There is a cost for transport, food and game supplies. (Middle School)

Revolution is a gathering of over 3,000 South Carolina youth from youthg groups across the state who come together for amazing worship, some of the best hip hop and rock bands and exceptional speakers.  The challenge for the weekend retreat is to go deeper in discipleship and ministry to others.  We visit and tour Epworth By-The-Sea Children's Home in Columbia and hang out at their gymnasium to get to know the youth who live there.  This is a spiritually transforming weekend for many students.  The cost takes into account transport, food, and lodging.  The Surf Trip is a collaborative effort between Saint Andrew By-The-Sea UMC and Saint Luke's Episcopal youth groups.  Since the start of this trip three years ago we have added Providence Presbyterian to the list of churches who attend and we have had 75 youth attend.  This is for any youth who likes the beach, wants to learn to surf, or is a surfer already.  We spend the weekend in Port Orange Florida (one of the best breaks on the east coast) and the theme of the weekend is about spending time with God in his inspiring creation.  We have pro-surfers who give lessons through the weekend.  It tends to be in early May so the water is nice and warm.  Cost includes Food, Transport, Lodging, Speaker Honorarium and use of Episcopal Church facitlities. (8th Grade and Up)

Salkehatchie Summer Service is for high school and college age youth drawn primarily from the South Carolina United Methodist Conference. Participants must be at least 14 years old by the beginning of the camp they attend. Adult leaders are also needed to offer guidance and support.  This program of the South Carolina Conference Board of Global Ministries consists of a number of work camps for United Methodist Youth in South Carolina. During the week participants physically improve homes of needy families and reach out to these families and one another in friendship.  We attend the Harvest Camp in Dillon, South Carolina (north of Florence).  Sign ups begin in January and the camp is in mid-July each year.  Cost includes the $215 camp fee (provides money for the site projects) as well as the transport to and from.  The food is made and donated by area churches where we eat and have fellowship every day. (14 years old and up)

All summer we build up to the White Water Rafting trip.  This is a great trip for growing closer and to have an exciting adventure with the members of our youth group.  We camp at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina and raft the Nolichucky River for an entire day.  This is for the adventurers in the group.  We have a blast camping, cooking out, and playing games on the green and the Camp Fire is always a great time together. Two times a year (Fall and Spring) we get the hardiest souls together to go to Ludowici, GA to experience one of the best Paintball courses in the country.  Lowcountry Paintball does an excellent job getting us out on the field and we have an exciting and safe time out of the field.  We ask that everyone use the rental equipment to keep everyone on the same playing field (leave your suped up guns at home).  This is a favorite among the guys, but girls love it too.  Oh - and it does sting a bit.  Wear long sleeved sweathers or two long sleeved tshirts, and a hoodie is best.  Any protective paintball clothing is alright to wear. Many of our students need to do service hours, and we always have projects happening at the church.  We have a soup kitchen that kids can work at on holidays (meets Fridays at lunch), we have lots of work to make the youth room look great, we get requests for work around the community constantly, and we participate twice a year in Backpack Buddies.  If you need service hours or just want to help out, contact the Youth Director and we'll get to work.
